ISLAMABAD: All the 18 passengers and three crew members boarding a Beechcraft-190 owned by a private company remained safe when the small aircraft crash-landed at the Jinnah International Airport (JIA) in Karachi on Friday.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the chartered plane of a petroleum company that was going to Sukkur (Sui) had to make a crash landing soon after it took off.
“The aircraft belonging to M/s Aircraft Sales and Services made crash landing immediately after take-off from the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi at 0824 hours today. Eighteen passengers and three crew members were on board. The aircraft was chartered by the Pakistan Petroleum Ltd (PPL). The aircraft was scheduled for Sukkur-Sui,” the Civil Aviation Authority said.
The aircraft after taking-off and attaining the height of 25-30 feet made a crash landing, which resulted in closure of the runway. Civil Aviation Authority vehicles (fire crash tenders and ambulances) rushed to the site within a minute and prevented further damage. Three of the twenty-one people on board received minor injuries while the remaining were safe and in good physical health.
