KARACHI: The Rangers personnel on Thursday said in a statement that they have seized 190 bulletproof jackets during a raid near Azizaabad area of the city.
It said that the raid was conducted in the city’s Federal B Area where the jackets were found hidden in a house and is believed to be used by the MuttahidaQuami Movement’s(MQM) militant wing.
The statement didn’t mention whether any arrest was made during the raid but said that the jackets were used as shields during acts of terrorism.
Meanwhile, the police claimed to have excavated a buried cache of arms in the city’s old Clifton area.
“This was disclosed by Police Inspector General(IGP) AD Khowja during his meeting with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah,” said a statement on Thursday.
The IGP said that the police force unearthed a piece of land and recovered huge cache of arms which included 3,695 rounds, 61 magazines, 23 rifles of different boars, four pistols, the statement added.
