Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader and former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has said that his party will not do the politics of sit-ins but it will play a constructive role while sitting on opposition benches.
He was talking to media persons here on Monday.
Gillani said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) made severe mistakes while holding the general election. However, we decided to come to the Parliament in the larger national interest, he said, adding that the government and opposition would have to make joint efforts to put the country on the path of development and progress.
“The opposition will point out national issues instead of creating hurdles for the government. We will support the ruling party in resolving the issues faced by the country and people,” Gillani pledged. The PPP leader said that the phase of street politics had come to an end, ‘we are in the Parliament now and will make collective efforts for national issues’.
