ISLAMABAD: Two Pakistan Army soldiers, Lieutenant Khawar and Naik Shehzad, were martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Jani Khel area of Frontier Region Bannu on Thursday, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military’s media wing added that four terrorists were also killed in the intelligence-based operation conducted by security forces. In a separate operation, a suspected militant was killed in a standoff with security forces in Balochistan as combing operations under Radd-ul-Fasaad continue across the country. Two others were taken into custody as intelligence agencies as well as Frontier Corps (FC) personnel conducted operations in the Kech and Andoor districts of the province. An FC soldier was also injured in an exchange of fire with suspected militants. In Punjab, 10 suspected militants were apprehended as the Rangers conducted “search and sanitisation operations” in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Lahore, Attock and Rawalpindi. A cache of arms and ammunition as well as explosive material was also recovered during the operations in both regions. Security forces have reinvigorated nationwide intelligence-based operations as Pakistan faces a fresh resurgence in terror attacks.
