LAHORE: Punjab’s Overseas Pakistanis C
ommission (OPC) provided st
rong support to the Un
ited States-based Pakistani mother and her son in getting their hard-earned money back.
OPC C
ommissioner Afzaal Bhatti, on Thursday, said that the money was depos
ited in a Lahore-based private housing scheme, four years ago.
He further said that the California-based Un
ited States (US) citizens, namely T
asneem Anwar and her son Khurram Ali Anwar, purchased two residential plots – measuring eight and five marlas each – in a housing scheme on instalments in 2010.
Despite paying the complete payment of Rs 26 lakhs, they were not given the possession of plots and their amount was not refunded.
Afzaal told that the housing scheme management lingered on the issue for years by making lame excuses. After receiving complaint from T
asneem and her son, OPC referred the matter to the Lahore District Overseas Pakistanis Committee (DOPC).
Due to continuous efforts and persistent legal support, the lady and her son got refunded completely from the administration of the housing scheme.
